EL PROCESO DE ACREDITACIÓN DEL PROGRAMA DE MAESTRÍA DE LA ESCUELA GRADUADA DE CIENCIAS Y TECNOLOGÍAS DE LA INFORMACIÓN, UNIVERSIDAD DE PUERTO RICO

 

El Programa de Maestría en Ciencias de la Información de la Escuela Graduada de Ciencias y Tecnologías de la Información, en la Universidad de Puerto Rico, está acreditada por la Asociación Americana de Bibliotecas (American Library Association – ALA, por su sigla en inglés).

La Asociación cuenta con una Oficina de Acreditación (Committee on Accreditation – COA, por su sigla en inglés) que sirve como la entidad oficial que certifica la calidad e integridad en los programas de estudio en Bibliotecología y Estudios de la Información. Entre las responsabilidades de ALA se encuentra el velar por la protección del interés público con relación a la formación bibliotecológica y de los estudios de la información; promover la diversidad en dichos estudios y contribuir al desarrollo óptimo de estos en el campo; anticipar y preparar a las escuelas profesionales para el ambiente cambiante y las futuras necesidades de sus constituyentes.

La Escuela Graduada de Ciencias y Tecnologías de la Información recibió su primera acreditación en el 1989; en el 2008 le fue concedida la certificación por siete años hasta el 2015; y en el 2015 la certificación fue extendida hasta el 2022.

THE ACCREDITATION PROCESS OF THE GRADUATE SCHOOL OF INFORMATION SCIENCES AND TECHNOLOGIES, AT THE UNIVERSITY OF PUERTO RICO 

 

The Master of Information Sciences of the Graduate School of Information Sciences, at the University of Puerto Rico is accredited by the American Library Association (ALA).  The Association has a Committee on Accreditation (COA) that serves as the official entity that certifies the quality and integrity in the master programs in Library and Information Studies.  Kindly visit the COA webpage for additional information for standards, process, policies and procedures.

ALA’s responsibilities include the protection of public interest in relation to the library and information studies education; promotes the diversity in those studies and contributes to the optimum development in the field; anticipates and stimulates the development of the professional schools for the changing environment and future needs of its constituents.

The Graduate School of Information Sciences and Technologies received its first accreditation in 1989; in 2008 the certification was extended until 2015; and in 2015 the certification was extended until 2022.
